Melbourne welcomed its newest group of Talmidim Shluchim to the Rabbinical College of Australia and NZ (Yeshivah Gedolah of Melbourne) on Thursday.
Shortly before the arrival of the new Shluchim, all bochurim of the Yeshivah boarded a bus for the 45 minute drive to Melbourne's Tullamarine Airport in order to personally greet the Shluchim.
The new Shluchim are Menachem Mendel Gurary, Nissan Isaac Hilel, Menachem Mendel Raskin, Mordechai Rubin, Menachem Mendel Shpizer and Menachem Mendel Shuchat.
They join second-year Talmidim Shluchim Mendel Hertz, Yosef Kasle, Moshe Lerman, Yisroel Leib Lester and Chaim Boruch Teitelbaum.
When the Shluchim appeared, the airport arrivals hall was filled with song as the Shluchim and bochurim broke out into a dance.
The atmosphere was jubilant, and the other people at the airport were happily caught up in the exciting spirit, many of them stopping to watch and video the event.
One of the Shluchim delivered a short speech to the people present at the airport, explaining their significance as emissaries of the Rebbe.
Notwithstanding the long flight from New York to Melbourne, the new Shluchim showed no sign of fatigue, and immediately joined the Yeshivah schedule.
At the conclusion of the evening Seder Chassidus, the Shluchim still did not rest, but instead participated in a staff meeting of Camp Gan Israel Melbourne summer camp, which begins in two months.
The Shluchim play a pivotal role in Yeshivah Gedolah, and in the community at large. Rabbis and bochurim wished them much success in their Shlichus.
